Backwood Bougie was born from two sisters who grew up on Midwest soil, where life was simple, honest, and connected to the land. We were raised in Iowa — and if you know anyone from Iowa, you know how deeply we love where we come from. The Midwest shaped us: the values, the work ethic, the way you treat people, the pride you take in doing things the right way.

As we grew older, our lives moved fast, our routines got busy, and our skin needed something clean, gentle, and truly nourishing — without all the noise of modern skincare. 

Tallow had been used for generations but got lost somewhere in the chaos of chemicals, fragrances, and over-formulated jars. We wanted to bring it back — simply, beautifully, intentionally.

We’re the kind of women who love people deeply, who share anything we love loudly, and who believe beauty should feel effortless, natural, and grounded. Backwood Bougie is our heart: a simple way to bless your skin with clean, small-batch, heritage-inspired products rooted in where we came from — the Midwest — and built on the land we care for today through Brown Pearcy Cattle Company.
